Ron Rougeau: Music

For The Soul

(Ron Rougeau)
2005-11-06
I was sitting outside of a coffee/bakery shop called Bread and Circuses in Wpg. when I saw a fellow ride by in his wheelchair. He was maneuvering it with a tube he had in his mouth. It was a time in my life when unfortunately I was feeling somewhat sorry for myself. He gave me perspective. I trully believe life is just experience for the soul..
I saw a man at Bread and Circuses
A motorized wheelchair he drove
I watched him as he turned the corner
He seemed to be so in control
and I thought

What if I were in those shoes
What would I do
If I couldn’t move
anything from my neck on down

I suppose one never knows
but like the chair in which he rode
The body’s just a vehicle
for the soul

I think a lot about life
these days
How far I’ve come
where I’ve been
How fate, luck, or a lack of it
Can set the stage
for the lives we’re in

Can it be for me and you
Life’s not a game
we win or lose
For in the pleasure or the pain
It’s all the same
we’ll come to know
The planted seed needs to grow
and life is just a vehicle
for the soul
